Account Director

At Warehouse Twenty One, (or just W21, we’re not that formal) our clients are more than just our clients; they’re our collaborators, our creative partners, our driving force, and our friends. The Account Director is part project translator, part creative liaison, and all-around relationship whisperer for W21. They’re the voice of the agency for our clients and they deftly, effortlessly, and spectacularly help manage the communication between our clients and the creative and production teams to strategize, create, and execute the incredible work that goes out our doors and into the world every day.

The primary responsibility of the Account Director is to lead their respective groups in the strategy and planning of assigned accounts. As the client team lead, the AD serves as the senior strategist, providing overall marketing strategy, industry knowledge, brand direction and counsel for all group accounts. This role is ultimately responsible for the satisfaction and profitability of their group of accounts.  

The secondary responsibility of the AD is to work closely with Business Development in the sales discovery and pitch phases, developing marketing solutions that solve prospects’ business objectives and landing net new business for the agency.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related experience
  • 2+ years of management experience
  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in a related field

Essential Duties

  • Manages client profitability of group
  • Ensures strategic quality of all proposals, SOWs, pitch materials + decks, creating a win-win agency/client relationship
  • Effectively presents, sells and defends integrated agency campaign work to clients
  • With Planning, ensures alignment between marketing + channel strategies within RFP/opportunity response
  • Ensures alignment of spec work with RFP strategy
  • Maintains deep understanding of client’s competitors
  • Ensures all assets are in alignment with Brand Book strategy
  • Ensures Creative’s Big Idea aligns with account strategy
  • Ensures Creative Concepts align with account strategy
  • Ensures Channel, Creative + Media Plan Development align with account strategy
  • Develops ongoing strategic recommendations that solve business objectives for clients, above and beyond initial AOR contract
  • Ensures team is successful with timely execution of all client campaigns
  • Develops and cultivates relationships with clients at senior levels (VP + CMO)
  • Serves as primary business owner for both client and internal account teams for all elements relative to their clients
  • Maintains professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values
  • Other duties as assigned

Client Development/Business Development

  • Partners with CEO/Business Development lead to qualify new business RFP/opportunities
  • Partners with CEO/Business Development lead to penetrate new divisions within existing accounts
  • Works with business development to define RFP/opportunity approach
  • Oversees + develops priority RFP/opportunity response
  • Leads AOR/campaign Sales Discovery meeting
  • With Planning, develops RFP strategy brief
  • With Planning, leads RFP strategy briefing/internal strategy session
  • Develops creative brief + leads creative briefing for RFP spec work
  • Identifies principal investments and secures approval
  • Develops AOR SOW strategies
  • Reviews + approves initial SOW estimates + timelines
  • Leads RFP/opportunity pitch
  • Works with Finance + PS to define client architecture
  • With Ops Dir leads internal client download meeting with integrated team

AOR + Program Discovery/Strategy/Planning

  • Develops interim campaign strategy
  • Reviews + approves interim campaign estimate and timeline
  • Writes Strategy Statements
  • Reviews + approves immediate Marketing Plan SOW estimates and timelines
  • Approves final layout of Marketing Plan
  • Revises Strategy Statements + budgets per client feedback

Program Execution

  • Leads priority Campaign Discovery meeting + finalizes takeaways
  • Leads priority Campaign Internal Strategy Session
  • Finalizes priority Campaign Strategy Brief
  • Leads priority Campaign Strategy Briefing
  • Finalizes priority Campaign Creative Brief
  • With Creative, leads priority Campaign Creative Briefing
  • Finalizes priority Campaign Execution Plan
  • Leads priority Campaign Pitch, including Campaign Concepts, Execution Plan, and SOWs
  • Works with client + team to resolve strategic misalignment

Program Administration

  • Reviews their client profitability reporting
  • Reviews monthly + quarterly write-off reporting for clients

Nurturing

  • Sells agency services into current client divisions through quarterly strategic recommendations (up sell)
  • Possesses and demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the dynamics and workings of the client’s business
  • Possesses and demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the dynamics and workings of the client’s competition

Admin

  • Participates in weekly agency traffic meetings for assigned clients
  • Completes timesheet daily
