Media Planner & Buyer

Warehouse Twenty One, a full service marketing firm, is looking for a Media Planner & Buyer. This position will identify which mass media platforms would best advertise a client’s brand or product. They will work with a variety of mass media outlets to select and negotiate the right mix of earned and paid media coverage across multiple channels to maximize the ROI for clients’ advertising campaigns.

The ideal candidate will combine creative thinking with factual analysis to develop appropriate strategies to ensure that campaigns reach their target audiences as effectively as possible. They will apply knowledge of media and communication platforms and work with internal team and partners to identify the most appropriate mediums for building awareness of a client’s brand or drive sales and stories for a specific product.

The Media Planner & Buyer will identify the best mix of media channels to deliver an advertising message to a client’s target audience. Using research data, they consider what is going to be most effective within the budget allocated and give the client’s product or service maximum exposure. This position will develop insights across the entire media spectrum, including radio, TV, cinema, out of home, billboard, print, and more. The planner will work with digital and social channel experts to provide strategic recommendations across all media touch points for a client campaign.

The position is responsible for developing and executing the research, strategy, planning, contracting, execution calendar, insertion orders, budget management, data entry, account reconciliation, performance reporting, and data-based performance improvement for multiple client accounts at the same time.  

 

Qualifications

  • Preference may be given to applicants with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or closely related field
  • Four or more years multi-media planning and buying (agency experience preferred)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive in all weather conditions
  • Experience with Bionic or other media planning software a plus

Essential Duties

Media Strategy and Planning

  • Work closely with the Managing Directors and Leadership Team to create great performance-based mass media plans for client campaigns
  • Utilize agency discovery process to create goals and objectives for mass communications strategies
  • Develop mass media objectives and strategies to meet client’s marketing objectives
  • Identify and analyze all media opportunities, including broadcast, print, digital, and non-traditional, and make sound tactical recommendations
  • Work with the Digital Manager and Social Media Manager to ensure a seamless and comprehensive multi-channel execution of purchasing and budget management across digital and mass media channels
  • Responsible for taking all recommendations across traditional, digital, and social media for final media buy recommendations, presentations, and pitches
  • Expert and master user of mass media buying software to build plans (W21 utilizes a system called Bionic)
  • Clearly write and present media recommendations through professional and well thought out media plan presentations
  • Presentation of mass media plans, both to internal and external (client) teams; Responsible for pitching media plans to clients in partnership with Strategy Director
  • Always on the lookout for new and cutting edge media opportunities for all W21 clients
  • Develop and maintain meaningful and trust-built relationships with all media vendors including print, TV, radio, sponsorship (sports), etc.

Media Buying

  • Manage mass media buying software; optimize quality and efficiency of mass communications planning and placement operations
  • Research, select, and manage media buying execution partners when needed to support or supplement internal capabilities
  • Effectively negotiate media placements, including added-value opportunities
  • Create and negotiate performance based contracts with media outlets as needed
  • Stewardship of audience delivery across all mediums
  • Build ongoing relationships and product awareness from all media and news outlets in Wyoming
  • Fiscal responsibility of client media buying budgets
  • Manage all insertion order processes and timing for all mass media communications
  • Manage the dissemination of all creative assets to media vendors per required spec and timeline
  • Complete or oversee all data entry requirements for media execution
  • Reconcile post media placement invoices and placement statements to ensure contract compliance and performance
  • Negotiate and track all make goods with media vendors

Reporting and Analytics

  • Work with Planner to ensure goals are properly set for campaigns and media buys
  • Write performance outcome reports for all mass media placement campaigns
  • Analyze performance of past campaigns and use data to make improvements on increase ROI of clients mass media placement dollars
  • Work with reporting teams to provide robust media reporting that provides real, concrete, and meaningful insights to clients’ business and marketing goals
