At some point in their lives, almost everyone wonders what it would be like to live out west.
Kaitlyn is no different. Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, she has spent most of her time based in the Carolinas, attending college at the University of South Carolina (Go Cocks! …yeah, there’s no real great way to say that…) and then working at an ad agency in Greenville, SC as part of the media buying, experiential, and video production teams.
But that call to go west eventually had to be answered which is how she found herself in Cheyenne. And it’s safe to say she took the long way here. Like, the really long way.
Before moving to Wyoming, Kaitlyn (or simply, “Yopp”) took a sabbatical year to pursue travel as well as a few other interests. On the travel front, those twelve months included spending the summer in Alaska, a couple months of road-tripping across the U.S., and a couple months down under, mate in New Zealand and Tasmania, with a few other pit stops on the way. On the non-travel front, she spent time working with an organization focused on helping homeless youth as well as volunteering at a local food bank. She also spent a week at the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte for a Rafting Guide School course, a developing skill set she has now happily put to use on the raging rivers of Utah and Colorado.
With this sense of adventure, she’s excited to explore Wyoming and the surrounding area now that she’s here, whether that’s hiking, rafting, climbing, skiing, or some other method she has yet to try.
